I have been counting calories using MyFitnessPal since January, and at first I was feeling quite limited in my food options. My Address is Hollywood is a bright, rosy pink. This isn’t anything revolutionary, but it has a nice shimmer. I find the polish drags when I apply this colour, so I have to be a little more careful to get even coats.
I really enjoy the Barthel Fitness YouTube channel. He has lots of great tips and I find him very motivational. As someone who doesn’t enjoy cardio and who focuses on lifting weights, this video makes sense to me. Check it out!
What is a mint candy apple? I’m not sure, but it sure looks nice. This shade is on-trend right now and is perfect for summer. I think it looks great with my pale skin, but would also look flattering with a tan. This is a pastel green that Essie’s website describes as a “crème de menthe mint.”
It’s a little runny, and the first coat is very patchy, but a thicker, second coat does the trick. I receive many compliments on my nails from coworkers when I wear this shade. It’s bright, but if you can get away with it, why not be a little daring?

It’s been eight months since I last wrote about my weight loss journey (and 11 months since my journey began), but I have a great update on my progress. At the time of my last weight loss update in September 2013, I had lost six pounds. As of yesterday, I have lost 40 pounds, and 25 of those pounds have been lost since January. (more…)
It’s been three months since I started my weight loss journey and started working out with a personal trainer (herein referred to as Nicole). So far, my progress has been slow but steady! I’ve lost:
- Six pounds
- 3.7% body fat
- 10 inches
Nicole says that clients typically experience slower progress during the first few months because your body is getting used to your new routine and developing muscle memory, but now I should see more changes happening quickly. I can see a big physical difference already and I feel healthier and stronger, so I’m very happy! I’m starting to love my body more and am allowing more time in my life for me.
In addition to working out and eating better, I have been prepping meals in advance (which in turn helps me eat better). For example, tonight I made about four day’s worth of breakfast, lunches, dinners, and snacks. As the saying goes, if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail!
This month I opted for the KMS California Topbox, because I received the quick blow dry spray in a previous box and fell in love with it. This month’s box is also very funky! For those of you not familiar with Topbox, it is a monthly beauty box subscription, where for $12 a month you receive 4 deluxe beauty samples. This past Tuesday was my first weigh in since I’ve starting working out with a personal trainer. She told me not to weigh myself at home, which wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be, but I was becoming pretty curious. I’m pleased to share I have lost four pounds and four inches (off my bust and hips) in four weeks! (more…)
